Renewable Gasfield Styria, Austria
Green Hydrogen for Industry, Mobility, and Homes
At Gruyère Hydrogen Power, renewable electricity becomes green hydrogen for real industrial use. In the canton of Fribourg, two Quest One ME450 PEM electrolyzers help produce up to 900 kilograms of green hydrogen per day – reliably, efficiently, and close to where it is needed.

How Renewable Power Became a Regional H₂ Value Chain
With the Renewable Gasfield in Gabersdorf, Energie Steiermark shows how renewable electricity can be used more flexibly across sectors. Built next to an existing biogas plant and combined with a large photovoltaic installation, the site turns green power into green H₂ for regional applications.
At the center of the project is a 1 MW Quest One ME450 PEM electrolyzer that produces up to 450 kilograms of hydrogen per day. The hydrogen is used in industry, can be stored for later demand, and is planned to support hydrogen mobility in Graz.
What makes the project stand out is its integrated approach. The hydrogen can be used directly as a CO₂-free energy carrier or converted into green natural gas and fed into the existing gas grid. This creates a flexible regional energy system for industry, mobility, and households.
"Despite difficult conditions, such as the Covid crisis and logistics problems, the project was handled professionally and with great dedication. Adaptation needs were quickly recognized and solved together with us. The customer's wishes were addressed in the best possible way."
